Profile
Bill O’Brien was hired as Boston College’s 37th head coach on Feb. 9, 2024 and entered his third season leading the Eagles. A veteran of college and NFL staffs, O’Brien’s résumé includes head-coaching at Penn State, a multi-year stint as Houston Texans head coach (2014–20), and offensive coordinator roles at Alabama and with the New England Patriots. At Boston College his offense finished among the national leaders in passing in 2025 and he guided the program to a Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl appearance in his first season.
Coaching Approach
Leans on pro-style passing concepts and established quarterback development, bringing NFL offensive experience (including working with Tom Brady and mentoring Bryce Young at Alabama) to improve passing efficiency and scoring output; his staffs have driven high passing-yardage and red-zone production in college and pro settings.
