Profile

Casey Woods was named Missouri State’s 23rd head football coach on Dec. 19, 2025 after four seasons as offensive coordinator and football chief of staff at SMU, where he was part of 37 wins in four seasons and helped SMU reach a CFP appearance and a No. 12 final ranking in 2024. Woods joined SMU in December 2021 and his 2023 SMU offense went 11-3, won the American Conference title and ranked 8th nationally in scoring offense (38.7) while setting school records for total yards and first downs. His resume also includes stops at Tennessee, Auburn (part of 2010 national championship staff), Arkansas State, UAB (2018 C-USA title) and Missouri.

Coaching Approach

Offensive coordinator with an emphasis on high-powered passing and red-zone efficiency: SMU ranked 11th nationally in passing offense (283.5) and 27th in scoring offense (32.9) in the 2025 statistical snapshot in his bio, and the SMU offenses under Woods produced top-25 national finishes in total offense, red-zone offense and pass completion rates in multiple seasons.
