Profile

Eddie George was named Bowling Green’s 21st head coach on March 9, 2025 after three seasons as Tennessee State’s head coach. A 1995 Heisman Trophy winner and College Football Hall of Fame inductee (2011), George guided Tennessee State to back-to-back winning seasons, a Big South–OVC Championship and the program’s first postseason appearance since 2013 prior to arriving at BGSU. His first Bowling Green season produced a signature comeback win over rival Toledo and individual all-conference performers on both sides of the ball.

Coaching Approach

Builds program identity around a defined culture he calls GUTS—Gumption, Understanding, Tenacity and Sacrifice—using that framework to emphasize preparation, discipline, physical commitment and collective accountability; combines that cultural focus with player development and a demand for situational toughness as primary building blocks.
