Profile
Lance Taylor was named Western Michigan’s 17th head coach on Dec. 8, 2022. In his third season he led the Broncos to the fourth MAC Championship and a Myrtle Beach Bowl victory while the defense ranked ninth nationally in scoring. His WMU offense produced MAC Freshman of the Year Jalen Buckley (1,003 rushing yards, 10 TDs) and Western Michigan’s first Consensus First Team All-American, Addison West. Taylor was Louisville’s offensive coordinator in 2022 after three seasons at Notre Dame as running backs coach and run game coordinator, where Kyren Williams posted 1,000-yard seasons (2020–21). He coached running backs at Stanford (2014–16), won Pac-12 title and the 2015 Rose Bowl, and was named FootballScoop.com's 2015 Running Backs Coach of the Year.
Coaching Approach
Run-focused offensive coordinator and run-game architect: served as Notre Dame run game coordinator and running backs coach while Kyren Williams recorded back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons (2020–21), was Louisville offensive coordinator in 2022, and at Western Michigan his offense produced MAC Freshman of the Year RB Jalen Buckley (1,003 yards, 10 TDs) and the MAC’s leading receiver Kenneth Womack (76 catches, 691 yards).
