Mike Elko was named Texas A&M head coach on Nov. 27, 2023 after two seasons as Duke’s head coach that produced back-to-back bowl appearances and the 2022 ACC Coach of the Year award. Elko previously served as Texas A&M defensive coordinator from 2018-21, helping the Aggies to a 34-14 record, a 9-1 2020 season and an Orange Bowl victory. As A&M’s coordinator the defense finished top-12 nationally in key measures: No. 3 scoring defense, No. 9 pass-efficiency defense, No. 7 red-zone defense and allowed 4.66 yards per play in the referenced season.
