Spencer Danielson was promoted to head coach at Boise State after serving as defensive coordinator and a three-week interim stint; the school announced him as the 12th head coach on Dec. 3, 2023. In his first full seasons he led the Broncos to three consecutive Mountain West championships, Boise State’s first College Football Playoff appearance (2024), a 12-win season and multiple coach-of-the-year recognitions. Coaching Approach

Defense-first architect who builds aggressive, backfield-penetrating units—Boise State ranked among the national leaders in total and scoring defense under his coordination—and pairs that with continuity from internal staff promotion; as interim and head coach he sustained offensive output while relying on disciplined, stout defensive performance to win conference titles.
