Named Travers Family Head Football Coach at California on Dec. 4, 2025, Lupoi returns to Berkeley after playing defensive line for the Golden Bears from 2000-05. He spent the prior four seasons (2022-25) as Oregon’s defensive coordinator and linebackers coach, with the 2025 Ducks finishing the regular season third nationally in total defense (251.6 YPG) and third in passing defense (144.3 YPG). Lupoi coached five seasons at Alabama as outside linebackers coach and co-defensive coordinator, helping the Tide win a pair of national championships. He also coached Cal’s defensive line (2008-11) while helping recruit classes that produced first-round picks Cameron Jordan and Tyson Alualu.
