Tre Lamb was announced as Tulsa’s 35th head coach on Dec. 8, 2024 and entered his second season leading the Golden Hurricane after a first year that included wins at Oklahoma State and Army. Lamb previously led Gardner-Webb to back-to-back Big South Conference titles and FCS playoff appearances, including the program’s first-ever FCS playoff win over Eastern Kentucky, and was named the 2022 Big South Coach of the Year. In his lone season at East Tennessee State he engineered a rushing attack that produced 2,330 yards and oversaw a defense that allowed 110.5 rushing yards per game, both cited as program-best numbers in source text.

Coaching Approach

Offensive-minded head coach with demonstrated rushing and quarterback development and proven conference-level success: source text cites Gardner-Webb leading the Big South in total offense, rushing statistics and completions in 2022, Lamb’s prior roles as quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator at Tennessee Tech and Mercer, and his Tulsa staff’s measurable defensive improvements in 2025.
